Solana group at trade fair Agritechnica

German plant breeder presents many news from its anniversary year on agricultural meeting point in Hanover

From November 13th to 19th, Solana exhibits at its new stand (No. 02-B02 in hall 2) in collaboration with subsidiary companies SolAgro from Russia and Solana Ukraina at Agritechnica in Hanover – nearly a home match for the North German potato breeder. On 320.000 m² exhibition floor space, 2.600 exhibitors are being expected on the world’s largest exhibition for agricultural machinery and equipment. The exhibition with global focus sets the right frame fort he company which is further going to concentrate on Eastern European as well as Scandinavian and Baltic markets.

A lot has changed for the plant breeding and trading company: This summer, Solana celebrated its 25th anniversary and took another step on its road to success by acquiring major share in the Danish potato multiplication and trading company SCANAX Holding A/S. Solana still has a strong market orientation in the international ?eld and is currently represented by sales subsidiaries in ten different countries.

„We are glad to present our company on such an important event as the Agritechnica“, says Managing Director Torsten Spill. “This gives us the opportunity to get in contact with customers and distributors from the Eastern European and Russian area and present our varieties Satina, Natascha, Rosara, Arosa, Secura and Primadonna which are strongly in demand in these countries. Especially the shapely tubers of Primadonna and Natascha are very popular in Russia and Ukraine.“

Cooking type B Toscana has taken over a special role this season and decorates the company’s new keyvisual being part of the newly designed stand. „Toscana has become our top seller this year“, comments Spill. „It is characterized by its robustness and great suitability for storage and did an outstanding performance, just like our high-grade varieties Campina, Verona and cooking type C Miranda.“

At Solana’s exhibition stand, visitors get the opportunity to have a look at fresh tubers for different requirements, such as the table potatoes named above and different varieties for the production of crisps, French fries and starch. „Among the special varieties, Ludmilla for the production of French fries and Verdi, Opal and Caruso for the production of crips did a very good performance this year“, says Spill.
